Official XCR-M Release!

It's like hunting with an M1A. I do it because I enjoy that rifle. But I lift weights so the M1A feels for me like a Rem700 for a skinny citizen. Battle rifles are not for girls (well most of them).
The XCR-M fills the nich that was empty because the AR-10 is restricted.

If it's not for you, that's fine, you'll save money. And it will save a rifle for the many guys that needs one.

Put your neck back in your pants interent tough guy;-) I never said it was a bad rifle, just a heavy chunk of a thing for hunting with. Fill your boots if it is what you like to hunt with.

My 18.6" barreled XCR-L in 6.8spc with a Dlask stock adapter, Magpul CTR stock and a Leupold VX111 LR 30mm tube side focus 4.5-14X40mm scope mounted with Leupold PRW rings loaded with five 95gr TTSX 6.8spc rounds = 10.3lbs...

I have never had an issue with packing it while hunting and I have carried it up into alpine many times it doesn't pack as easily as my super light weight single shot T/C Contender carbines but I didn't expect it to either.

It is now my go to deer hunting rifle...

I really like my stock XCR in 7.62X39 for hunting although I would love nothing more than to chop two inchs off the barrel. Being a lefty I've been a fan of the lever actions. Nothing is as nice to carry as a Guide Gun or 1894 in the woods here, IMO.

OK, I know its only been a week but has anyone bought an XCR-M and shot it enough to do a range report? Personally I'm especially interested in one in .260 Rem but .308 would do just fine.

Even initial impressions... Call me impatient but we've been waiting a long time.

First chunk aren't going to be here until Mid. Nov apparently. Gotta keep waiting, I guess :(

Should be fairly easy to add 7/08 and 358 Winchester to the lineup.

Tactical shooters have no interest for 7mm-08 and shooters in general have no interest in 358 Win!
Robinson Arms listened to XCR-L owners and made the right choices.
With modern bullet, 308 Win provides enormous stopping power (180gr TSX).

My god, I can't even stand it.... I WANT IT NOW!

7mm-08 or 243 would be awesome for hunting... and I plan on using my XCR-M for just that.

So BIG question.... what does a guy put on this thing for optics. Lets consider a $250 budget optic and a $500 budget optic.

Like he said.. he's physically capable of lugging it and enjoys doing so. I'd hunt with my FAL if I was allowed just because and certainly not because it is light. I don't really take weight into consideration in my hunting rifles: after accuracy the joy of shooting it trumps all else. Weight would place dead last for me.

Regards,

I'd like it if you could carry a cannon around for hunting if that is what you like to do but from hunters, to hikers, to soldiers, most like the lightest weight gear they can find that will get the job done. It is not because they are "skinny".

My understanding is that many more US soldiers would carry a M14 and many Canadian soldiers would carry a FAL if they could. They carry a 5,56 because they go indoors or because it's what they're assigned to.
Beside, many M4 and C7 that we see have so many accessories that it still weights 9 lbs...

In the pictures of the M14 in Vietnam, many kids (looking 16y and 5'7") seems pleased to haul their rifle. As you said, it's about getting the job done.

I'll stop hi-jacking this thread. We can hunt with a few great semi-auto .308 and many hunters like it. Please respect that and stop giving ideas to the anti-gun lobby to get more rifles restricted.
