Is it a plane? Is it a bird? Is it a full blown custom 3000$ BR rifle?
NO! It's just another s**tty sub 200$ 22!

Yep I really went on to ruin a perfectly fine little 22
Not yet sure If I really like what I did, but let me know what you think. It's the factory stock I put some plywood/hardwood, a bunch of bondo, some carbon fiber decal and a new buttpad and voila. Coat of primer, couple coats of paint, couple coats for varnish. It took me a while since I broke my belt sander the first day I started shaping the stock so all was done by hand, which is not the typical afterjob fun if I may say, so motivation was 0 to none. What really got me into finishing this project is that I saw winter coming and paint/lacquer shouldn't be applied in low temperatures...
When I started, I knew right off the bat it'd be a long long time before I get it done because the wood they use in these: DAMN it's hard hard wood.
I wouldn't pay for that stock if it was for sale, but gotta say there's no better feeling than DIY.

Seems nice, too bad it's left handed, and you blocked the open sights. :p

What did you do with the trigger guard, is that paint? Nice work. Also, what kind of guitar is that?

Cheers,
Sand

its a decal, shaped with a hair dryer

You wouldn't beleive it if I told you where the hardwood came from!

It is still an unfinished business, I'm thinking about adding some carbon fiber decal under the flat fore-end since it's going to drag alot. I also have a badger bolt knob taken off something else (I went with Bill's bolt knobs on all my rifles so have badgers on hand) but have yet to find somebody willing to have at it with a rimfire bolt. I'd colour it the same colour as the stock!

It looks sthuuper sparkly.... rofl

nice job on the stock mods, personally, not a fan of the color... lol

details on what you did & used?

I really hate taking step by step pictures because I like to stay focused on my projects but here is what I briefly did:

-Brainstorming about the design, I knew I wanted a pistol grip, higher cheek weld and flat fore-end.
-Ordered all gun parts off of brownells: pachmayr decelerator (not that I really needed it but they are the best looking (basket weave pattern)), dovetail to weaver adaptor, weaver x-tra high rings, bushnell 4200 4x16x50 AO (discontinued model), dovetail slot filler for rear sight.
-I cut 3 places. Under the fore-end and under the but, just where the swivel button was, to have these 2 flat surfaces for easy BR gliding. Also cut the whimpy cheek area to have a flat surface to nail on a bigger piece of wood to have it at the height I wanted.
-After removing that wood and the issued buttpad, I nailed/screwed cabinet grade plywood under the foreend and one in lieu of the buttpad. The piece of plywood for the buttpad: I shaped it according to the Pachmayr buttpad I got from brownells, that would become the pattern of the stock.
-Chiseled the diamond grips because I was pretty sure Bondo wouldnt stick to it and sanded down the varnish of the rest of the gun.
-The pistol grip and new cheek area came from a crooked solid maple door I found some time back (none of the doorframes in my house would fit it anyway) which I shaped with a plane (after rough cutting with saw of course)
-Then went on and added the bondo. It took me 1½ medium cans of the original bondo to finish it. I added bondo to match the contour of the plywood I added.
-Sanding on and off for 2 months, adding more bondo/bondo glazing putty when needed
-painting on and off for a month
-took a picture
:)
