Have you guys ever had it when you put a couple drops of oil in the piston and main spring chamber area and when you fire it for the first time or second shot that it sounds like you just shot a .22!! I've had that happen to me twice with my Ruger Air Hawk, once when brand new (first shot) and recently when I lubed it. I don't think I damaged anything, it still shoots fine. I noticed in the manual that it says two drops of air chamber oil. I used Hoppe's regular gun oil which I think is to thick.:shotgun:

Yes, it is called dieseling, like dogleg said. The oil is combusting under pressure, just like a diesel engine does. Very hard on your guns internal parts, the seals in particular.

Use only air chamber oil that is designed for airguns, It's silicone based and will not diesel when compressed.

RWS makes a good one.

Petroleum based oil will diesel, damage seals and will turn the chamber into a gummy mess over time.
