Ok i am am looking to build a rifle for this kind of competition.

personaly I am A savage arms believer my dad and i have two of them and i like them very much. i loked at a stock Abolt on the weekend the only feature it had that really beat my dads 30-6 savage was the bolt deson't come up near as high and cost 100 dollars more and didn't look nearly as good.

how ever with savages export problems i am wondering if i should look at possibly a remingtion 700.

so what i am asking this

who shoots these matches what do you use.

does any one use an off the shelf rifle such as an sps tactical or similar.

chatridge options still trying to see if they're are any rules on this

also build jobs i should prbibly leave to a professional gun smith

There are factory rifles seen on the line. Tikka, Savage, Remington, Winchester. Probably most are shooting rifles that they have had made up. Keebler750 shoots his .270WSM, .308 is probably the most common. Matches are to 600m, most any accurate rifle and cartridge combination would be usable. You do need a dependable scope, with repeatable adjustments. Some matches involve moving targets, too much scope power is not an advantage.
The important thing is to get out and shoot. I assume you have been to our website, w ww.osacanada.ca.

Here is mine it is a 308 heavy with a mauser action (real Mauser K98) and a Tasco 6-24x50 scope it is set up a 300 yards

Yes i have i have it book marked is any one heading to the march 15th one from o####wa or driving through there i'd like to come out and give it a try with my savage model 10 predator hunter

how much ammo should one bring i should have like 200 rounds of FMJ whinchester white box still would this be enough

March 15th is a casual recreational shoot. No specific match program. The range is several km from the gate, and you should expect to showshoe or ski at least 8km in and back. Of course, spring could arrive by then, but this has been a heavy snow winter in Haliburton County.

hmm maybe i should of picked a pair of those up when i got 30 feet into the woods on a rabit hunt and whent damned it and had to walk back through 3 feet of snow

but wow that place is far in and i though orono fish and hunt club was secluded lol

i guess that milcon isn't open in the winter then?

would be nice i have never been able to get out to a distance that was longer then 100 yards would go to oshawa but they realy fround upon sniper type stuff

MilCun, where OSA shoots is a privately owned property of over 1000 acres. really beautiful site, variety of hardwood, softwood, wetland terrains. Abounds with wildlife of all sorts. Because the ranges are used for training programs, OSA is not a drop in and shoot type of club. If you want to have the opportunity to shoot back to 600m on a range with target pullers, for shot by shot feedback, and proper zeroing, one of the practice days would be a good idea.

yeah be nice to actualy have shoot out past 100 yard before entering a competition

i'll see about it wit the treck in it probly would be to much for me right now though only having the one gun case and being minus the 8 lbs of lead shoot shells might make it doable... i looked at they're website allong time ago it's starting too look aamazing it's nice to have a place like that in ontario

I shoot and hang with tiriaq at the Milcun range. For my sniper rig, I use a box stock Varmint Sythetic, just happened to find a great deal on a fluted version, but box stock .308 does the job for Hilltop Range (200m to 600m) matches that we shoot there.

Lots of variety showing up on the ranges: Jamie's .308 LTR, the odd .223 M700P, many Steyr .308, Tikka .308, Stealth .308, M700 Custom 6.5 x 284 builds as well.

Go to the OSA website w ww.osacanada.ca and browse around, you will even see me in the picture gallery, likely the one with the porkchop!

Peace be to journey
