I think the only question there Rick is how does the AI feed in the Vanguard or how much trouble to make it feed.

I'd go std 280 and let the buyer decide on the AI treatment at the time of sale.

I'm getting a 7x57 on a JC Higgins FN action. Bbl is stainless from Bevan King. I came pretty close to the 280, but had dies on hand for the smaller x57. I thought I could always change it later.

someone had a chance to have that barrel on a Sako.....it's now going on a lowly Vanguard..........it's crowned at 24" and threaded and the counterbore is done......reaming will be done later this week.

+1, but if able I would either go 7mm Rem Mag or 7x57 as both are way more prevalent

I would do that into a 280 Ackley in a heartbeat. It will feed right out of that action with no tweaking at all. Can send you a few cases if you want to be sure, Rick.

Chambering a 280 is not going to help hin achieve that.

I think the Ackley would be cool and the 280 might be a better choice if you are selling it later.
