Ok Nutz... Wanna Share your Favourite .308 Loads? I have always wanted a .308 and finally picked one up. It is a bench rest, bull barreled Ruger M77MKII....

I love to shoot the golden mile... 250 yards plus soooooo.... Ideas?

Thanks guys!

Load I have settled on with my Remington 700PPS:

-Hornady 168gr. AMAX or 168gr. Sierra MatchKing
-Fed 215M primer
-Win case
-44.0gr. Varget
-2.81" COL

This load is 0.5MOA in my rifle out to 300 yards (max of my range), it averages 2650fps.

With 175gr. AMAX, MatchKing or 178gr. AMAX
43.0gr. Varget.

My favourite LR load in my stock Remington 700VS with 26" barrel and Tasco Super Sniper 16X 42 scope:

155gr Hornady AMAX
46.5gr Varget
Fed 210 primers
Winchester cases, trimmed, primer holes uniformed and flashholes deburred
OAL 2.925"
Vel: 2800fps

These give me groups of less than 0.5 MOA if I do my part

46.0 gr Varget
Moly 155 Sierra or Nosler .010 off the lands.
Fed 210M Primer
Lapua Case
2940fps out of a 30 inch barrel, 1:13 twist
Shoots .5 MOA or better out to 1000 yards :D

I have also use a very similar load to Rifledude with awesome results. I was using Fed 210M and CCI BR2 primers, moly 155gr Amax, Varget, Win cases (lee collet neck sized after fireforming and reg. case prep). My barrel got this combo to 2850fps. Deadly accurate all the way out to 1450yds.

I just put a few 168gr Nosler J4 down a new 308 rifle. Using H335, Fed 210M, Win brass as above. At 180yds, groups would measure in the 1's. Certainly another bullet combo with potential.

What is your twist?
If 1-10" try this:
Varget 43.7grain (98.6% fill)
Sierra 175gr MK (velocity M0=2715fps)
Primer Federal 210 Match
Case Norma
COL 2.805-10"
Case trimmed to 2.010"

Good Luck

My barrel got this combo to 2850fps. Deadly accurate all the way out to 1450yds.

Gotta love that... To do those kind of distances, I have to travel up to my old man's farm in Northern Ontario.... Down south, here in Niagara, a bullet would surely have to travel through a few houses

Varget eh.... Hmmm I gotta do some shopping!

Great guys, thanks... keep it coming...!
