Ok, so I've desided at some point in the near future to get an AR-15 platform rifle. My first thought was...cheap as I can get and then "bubba" it up over time. Norinco CQ/M4 was my first choice and I heard good things about it.

But....I'm really liking the stuff I'm seeing on the NEA site. A bit more money, but it already has stuff(like the hand guard and rails) that I would want to change on the norc....so by the time you add all that up they arn't THAT far off in price.

So tell me why I should by the NEA(or why I shouldn't). Would the quality between the two make that much of a difference?

Don't forget those CORE 15's that Wanstalls has. 100% made in America, including the small parts and backed with a lifetime guarantee. Pretty sure the small parts in the NEA are made in china, don't quote me on that though. Either one is FAR ahead of the norinco.

Pretty sure they're not. You can quote me on that.

If this is your first AR, if you like it you will move up to a better brand, so go a head and get that Norinco. take it apart learn the system, once you decide AR is your thing, sell it and move onto something else.

The way I see it AR market is almost at a saturation point, a 20% discount on $600 rifle vs. a 20% discount on a $1000 is lot easier to swallow.

My advice buy a lower from Blue Line, and get a parts kit build it from the bones up the WAY YOU WANT. Do it your self and you will love that rifle forty times more than if you bought it off a shelf. I did it and I regret nothing. This of course is my 2 cents just thought I would post.

Buy what you can afford to spend, this hobby gets expensive very quickly. If you can hold off a bit, save up and get what you really want rather than make an impulse buy and regret it later.

Not a knock on Norincos as many are happy with them, it's what you want and want it for that is the deciding factor.

.. As long as more Canadians are shooting AR's, of any make, we're happy. It's a big sandbox, what's important is that people are playing in it.

When someone at the range asks what you're shooting(especially a new guy) would you rather say "it's a north east arms AR15" or "it's a norinco, made in china". I know it sounds stupid but when I was brand new and asked people what they were shooting all the norinco guys looked a little embarrassed when they answered. It's very important to be proud of your gun, it will get way more use that way. My .02.
