Ok to work on my own guns?

I was under the impression the barrel length law was mostly a shotgun thing? Why on earth would you want to chop a rifled barrel? Its gonna drop the accuracy and the velocity of the bullet, whats the point? I can see the governments problem with short handguns as it makes them more concealable but do you really need to tell someone to NOT cut their nice, accurate, rifled and usually expensive barrel?! Lol

As long as you know your limitations, go ahead. Make sure you do a full function safety test before loading up. A simple nudge should not allow the hammer to drop. Otherwise, safety is compromised and a trip to a competent gunsmith is a must.
