Haha O kinda miss my .460s. Although the converted No.1 was really nasty. This one is Japanese and has a thin 24” barrel. It does have a brake though. Thinking I’ll chrono the factory ammo to see how it matches what they advertise.Used to own a Japanese model with no brake and lighter contour barrel and it was one of the nastiest rifles I have ever fired from the bench. Granted it had a Pendleton brake, but a .460 I had at the same time was more pleasant off the bench with the old "elephant" factory ammo. Darn, I miss that .460![]()
If the OIC gets reversed by the CPC, I'm buying another .460 lolHaha O kinda miss my .460s. Although the converted No.1 was really nasty. This one is Japanese and has a thin 24” barrel. It does have a brake though. Thinking I’ll chrono the factory ammo to see how it matches what they advertise.
Yes I really liked the Euromarks too. Had a couple of .270s, a few .300s and a couple of .340s. None in Weatherby rifles. Only the big ones in Mark 5s. I did shoot a couple of Mulies with my 338/378 way back. Even with the brake off it was big and not handy. 26” American made so slightly heavier barrel. 210 tsx at 3450, good deer load.I've owned them in .257 Wby, 7mm Wby and .300 Wby. I liked them all! I loaded the .257 with 75gr X bullets (pre-TSX) and was just under 4000fps - 3980 if I recall correctly. I shot a nice whitetail with it from just over 100 yards - maybe a bit more (it was a long time ago) and the wound channel was very interesting - almost like a plug of tissue had been removed along the bullet path.
With the .300 Wby I loaded 200gr Partitions with IMR 7828 and that load was just over 3000 fps with my 26" barrel and just under 3000 in my friend's 24" barrel. What a load!
I used to really like the Euromark, with the oil finished stock. I also REALLY wanted the MkV "Whitetail", which was in the catalogue but I don't think it ever went to production. It was the 6 lug version of the Mk.V in .250 Savage.
