Hi guys,

I have a box of 22 ammo stamped August 16 1943. CIL Yellow box with Blue writing. Possibly WWII trainer ammo? Box is in reasonable shape, but not mint. Looks like about 7 or 8 rounds out of 100 missing from box. Might these be worth anything to a collector or should I just blow them off at the range? Thanks

Lots of that ammo around, I have 4 full boxes in mint condition, I did a little checking around and found that it's worth about 5-7$ a box. not worth the trouble to try and sell.

Take it to the next gun show you go to. You may be able to trade it off for something that will make you and a trader happy.

Done that a bit, over the years. It's a good way to get to know some of the guys that do the gun show circuit, do a little BS'ing, and learn a little bit of new stuff along the way.

A few years back, I was given a half full 'brick' of CIL Whiz-Bang .22 ammo, to use to shoot the gophers on a piece of farm land. Didn't shoot it. Was paid several times the cost of modern ammo, plus a fair price for the brick carton, by one of the dealers. The deal I made with hm, was that I wanted to know both what it was worth retail, plus what he would give me for them, so that he could make a buck at his business too. He told me, we did the deal. still see him around the circuit, and make a point to say hi and chat, when I do.

Heck, if someone will give you a couple boxes of modern ammo for the stuff, it'd be worth taking it along. You know, unless the zombies are on the move, and you are running low...:)

Cheers

Thanks guys. Doesn't sound like it's even worth the trouble of selling, so I'll probably just hang on to it. I kind of like the box and the date stamp on it is cool. Not sure I trust it enough to shoot it, but I do love that old ammo cordite smell... maybe I'll shoot one round off every so often and breathe deeply...
