Good evening to you sir, thanks for showing that cool old box of .22 ammo.

There was a time in my life when I collected cartridges, trying to get one example of each center fire round that I could and one full box of rimfire .22. For a number of reasons I eventually drifted away from it, but anyway here's the Canuck shelf.

Whole rimfire collection.

As to the OP's question I'd say the initial answer is a good place to start, perhaps it's a regional thing too as rimfire collecting wasn't a big deal when I was into it - but then that was 20 years back now I guess.

All the best to you all as fall turns into winter.

I'm not looking to collect this stuff, I have enough hobbies and don't need another, I was looking for a value as to sell it or just shoot it. As I'm not a collector.

Shoot it.

Really. Not going to be worth the gas money to get the stuff to the post office, as far as making your fortune goes.

If you go to any gun shows, stick the stuff in your pocket and cart it along. Chances are about fifty/fifty, that you can trade it straight across for modern ammo to one of the guys that collects the stuff.

Last batch of old ammo I took and traded off was a half brick of "Whiz-Bang" .22 shot shells I was given. The 'brick' box was in really nice minty shape, and the six boxes remaining inside were mint, never opened. I got 20 bucks, which I spent on ammo I could use. The guy got several nice boxes to sell, plus the nice brick box. He has to make something too.

Not exactly a lottery win, but it went where it was appreciated.

Cheers
Trev

My wife was given a Winchester .22 and boxes and boxes of .22 long rifle Whiz Bangs in the 1980s. She shot a deer with one.

The older boxes of WHIZZ BANGS .22 long. yellow with red stripes bring back memories of my youth...sitting on our back steps,. granddad, granny and I taking turns shooting a rat stealing grain from the pidgeon coop........ imagine doing that today...
