Good Day.

I am organizing a bin of old .303 Brit ammo i picked up years ago. A quick sorting of the rounds with head stamps i can pick out a date show most of it to be from 1940-45 with a bunch from 1920 as well. There are many different bullets as well but most seem to be a silver colour (zinc?). I would like to upload a photo but can't figure out how to get rid of my previous uploads.

Anyways i was wondering if anyone could point me towards a resource that i could help me sort them and see which are corrosive or not, which are original (i think they all are but there are a couple that might be suspect) and where the came from. Also, if there are better off as a collectors item or if i can safely fire them off from an Enfield. I am no expert in reading head stamps and there are many different ones. Anyways if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be helpful.

Thanks.

Silver is more than likely nickle plated. As a general rule, Canadian DI Z marked cases can be considered non corrosive. All others are suspect. A U marked case is likely to have genuine slivers of cordite. There are many website on .303 ammunition, and some collectors specialize in narrow ranges within the very wide array. Good luck!

Silver colour bts have cupro nickel jackets.
Google British Military Small Arms Ammunition for info

I have a bunch of .303 nickel FMJ with head stamps from 1914 thru 1918 that I am thinking of putting in stripper clips and selling at the next gun show.
Worth while or just another dumb idea?

Do not shoot 1945 or older ammo. Collectors will buy it and it will only increase in value.

I think there are about 2,000 variations in 303 ammo.
