Have a friend on another site wondering why these indents are on some old 303 bullets
Thanks in advance for the help. My guess is for weight reduction and reduce friction but not sure

Part of the commercial manufacturing process to me. Those are soft points which means the base of the bullet is a solid cup. The first thought I had was this was someone's effort to lock the lead core into the jacket, while still using existing production lines.

Remington uses a similar process to lock the jacket to the core. They call it CorLokt.

CIL used to have an agreement with Remington and used some of their technology.
