Old Ammo Safe to Shoot?

I've shot 1917 .455 ammo and as long as it has been dry and is clean,, no problem.. If its scungy,, I'll pass..Lottsa WW11 ammo still being shot..:sniper:

x2, go ahead. I picked up 20 boxes of Dominion, CIL with 175 grain roundnose bullets. They were loaded to less than 45000 psi and and shot well out of my spanish carbine. You will miss them when they're gone, great hunting cartridge and lots of penetration. Never recovered a bullet in either moose or deer.

We shot some old ammo one time and wondered why it smoked so bad.
About 1/3 fired so we decided to pull the rest apart only to find out they were black powder. Don't know how old they were but that Black was packed like cement, dug it out and touched a match to it and it burnt.

So shoot it unless the cases appear in tough shape.
