Hey.

I was going through my grandfathers guns and found some interesting ammo that i've never seen and my dad doesnt remember what it is. The shotgun shells are a mystery they have Olympic and some polish markings. Here are some pics. (Hope this works)

This one is of the guns i found.

Sorry for the crummy photos they were taking with my iPhone :(

Grandpa had very Canadian taste in guns! You have a single shot Cooey .22, 2 break action single shot shotguns (one with the custom electrical tape bodge to keep the foreend on) and a sporterized #4 Mk 1 Enfield. Swap out one of the 12g. for a mildly thrashed model 94 Winchester and you'd have the standard gun collection most Canadian farmers amassed between 1945 and 1970.

Can't tell you much about the 12g. shells. They're 2 3/4", #5 shot. I recall seeing Olympic brand years ago, but I've got nothing else of value to share on that front.

The .303 cartridges are late production Imperial, Canadian made sometime in the late 70's/early 80's. Altogether adequate for whacking deer, moose, etc. They came with two of those ###y yellow sliding belt bandolier dealies per box. Shoot 'em up and think fondly of your Grandpa.

Thanks for the info!

For the shotguns one is a Cooey model 840 and the other is EXCEL. The Excel has no markings other then that. The tape is there because there is no foreend! The Cooey on the other hand is in mint shape. Doesn.t seem to have been fired once and the wood is in excellent condition.

I would like to bring that Enfield back to its original state. Like new wood and bring it to a gunsmith to make sure every thing is A OK.

The .22 is in rough shape but maybe a good cleaning might bring her back :sniper:

For the shotgun shells how can i dispose of them safely?

Thanks

I guess I'm getting old. He calls it "old ammo". When I still bought factory stuff it was just "ammo".

I didn't get to ask my grandfather when he bought it. But i just assumed it was old by the box it was in. Also he didn't used them in the last 30+ years.

But your not old just seasoned :D
