I know I have been told to take two aspirin's and go to bed but this is something I have to do . I am going to take my family heir loom a huntin it is a 38/40 colt lightning rifle . It has not been hunting in over 60 yrs . I told my father before he passed on that I would get it out one day and next week we are a going . Now I have had this checked over by a gunsmith who gave it a clean bill of health. Its all sighted in using winchester 180 gr soft points. Also if anyone can date this for me that would be good I have been told that it is a first year poduction made in 1887 .The serial # is 19508 here are a few pics
