I acquired this colt commander 9mm ( series 70 I think ).....it is definitely not a safe queen going by condition....with holster wear....some loss of bluing on grip and trigger guard... idiot scratch etc etc etc...I would love some information on this piece as I've never seen one this old in 9mm are they common?....is this factory adjustable rear sight?....I can only find new ones for sale and none in this condition....what would be a reasonable asking price if I were to sell it? Thanks everyone!

I have no idea of the value, but neither the sights, thumb safety nor trigger are original. And the serial number appears to start with 70, indicating a series 70.

Based on the condition of your gun and the fact that’s it’s not original I would say around $600, you could start at $800 but I wouldn’t expect it. If it was original in excellent condition you’d be looking at around $1200 of more if you had box and papers.

Thank you for for the great info regarding the sights.....safety and trigger and yes the serial number starts with "70"

$800?? No, I don't think so. $500-$600 would be more realistic. Take it to a dealer and see what they would pay for it then add 30% TOPS to that price.

Well if 500$ to 600$ is more realistic sell price I will most likely keep it

Another user mentioned that the sights....trigger and thumb safety are not original......would it be worth it to put these parts back to original and send it out for a hot blue?

Would that up the resale value in the future? Or should I just keep it as it and shoot the $hit out if it as is;)
