I've got an old H&R "Topper" from my grandfather. It says on the left side of the receiver ""TOPPER" - M48 H&R ARMS CO. LTD. Long Branch Ont., Made in Canada". I've tried researching the date of manufacture but have only found info regarding American made Toppers. I'm not under any allusion that it's valuable, just curious as to when Canadians were making a great little gun like this and hopefully how old it is. There is a serial number behind the trigger guard that goes CM ###XX. On top of the chamber is printed "MADE IN CANADA 12 GA. CHOKE". Thanks for the help.

Guess to age?

If that's so is there anybody who knows when Long Branch was up and running (and maybe making Toppers?). I'll have to talk to my grandfather and see when and where he got this shotgun.

I have the same gun and did not finding any details. I know this thread is old, but if anyone could look at it again, any info would be appreciated. The Serial number reads CM###xx, I'm just more looking for year of Manufacture and when H&R made shotguns in Canada. Thanks.
