Anyone know anything about old italian shotguns? I have a guy trying to trade me one, says its a Fabrique Armi. never heard of them and can't find any info online. I have a bunch of pictures I can send to cell or email.

Do you have any pictures? Look for a maker's mark. Fabrique Armi is just a name that just means manufacture of firearms and encompasses several makers in the Brescia region of Italy. It's equivalent to Arma Eibar shotguns which is a collective of beautique gun makers in the Eibar region of Spain but not the actual name of the company or Dominion arms here in Canada that imports different guns from different places and just rebrands them.

Do you know how old the gun is? Some clues are if it is a DT gun, ejectors vs extractors, lock up or take down mechanism, etc. How is it choked? Is it an upland gun or is it set up for clays? unless it is a high end manufacture, don't expect much for it. Berettas and Brownings hold their value because parts are readily available and requires very little fitting to replace. Some of these older or mistery guns may not have any parts available and may not be worth as much as you think.

Garaldtao,
I do have pictures of it, I could email or text. Its a double trigger, 28" barrels, Fixed chokes and side plates. Modified and improved Modified chokes according to the seller. I just text him asking about the ejectors or extractors. I would say its set up as a bird gun, considering he said he used it for upland game birds. Thank you for the advise

Pics on behalf of the OP. The XX whatever is the year. My eyes can't make out the last 2 letters after the XX. I'm guessing what looks like ACL in that rectangle is the maker's mark. I found one ACL maker that stands for Action Arms but describes them as importer for Britarms. The more I look at the date code it looks like XXlll which would be 1967.

Does not look used much at all, could be looked at as a good thing or a bad thing.
If it doesn't show hunting use.....maybe not setup ideal for hunting, heavy and long, fat stocks. Just my opinion, just a guess.
Gun looks rock solid though.
$900?

I was just wanting to get a O/U for shooting clays with my buddies. I think I'm going to pass on it. I don't agree with his opinion of it being worth $1500, and I'm not a fan of the idea that replacement parts will be hard to find. The double triggers is also a negative for me. Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it

For sporting applications, you can put your money into something much more appropriate - say a Browning Citori or a Beretta 686 - both have single selective triggers and can take a lot of use..

Tradex has dozens of guns like this, made for the European market, all for 400.00 to 600.00. Parts would be almost impossible to find. It might be a perfectly serviceable gun but 1400.00 or a little more will buy you a name brand used Beretta, Browning, Remington etc.

This gun looks to be set up as a trap gun, beavertail forend and Monte Carlo style comb on the stock, high wide rib. Double triggers would not be unusual on a trap gun of this vintage, especially in Europe. This would be a very nice trap gun when new, made on the generic Italian over/under action of the day, not commonly seen here because they never made any real impact in North America. As previously mentioned, even though it's a nice gun and would be useful as a club level beginners gun or a backup gun, parts availability is nil, any parts needed would need to be hand made by a skilled gunsmith, not cost effective in this case. As a field gun it's too heavy and stocked too high for most field shooters. There is very little interest in guns of this type with fixed chokes and double triggers, the suggested value of $1500 will buy a nice Beretta or Browning, but is wildly optimistic for this gun. If it is worth that much to the present owner he will have it for a long long time.

1400.oo out of line on this , that money will buy you a used browning, Ruger Red label, Winchester 101, Berretta mid grade, etc.
