I bought an old marlin lever today that I could not turn down. Hardly wait til it gets here. Its an old marlin safety in 32W. I have dated it to a DOM of 1891 (by ser. number). A bit more investigation suggests it is a model 1889 (not marked on rifle). It has an octagon barrel, 3 leaf rear sight, and is in very nice condition considering its age. My questions are;
1-Is this a black powder rifle?
2- 32w Is this a 32/20 win or something exclusive to marlin?
