Old Mossberg 500 disassembly

Sooo i bought a Mossberg 500, serial number G97###x, which leads me to believe a mid 70's manufacture date. Getting the thing apart isnt a problem... Till i get to the pump forearm, with all internals removed the pump forearm should just slide off but it looks like(and sounds) its stopping on some sort of slide stop attached to the magazine tube, under the forearm. Every other dissassembly video shows the pump sliding right off once disengeaged with the bolt slide , but mine gets caught. Help? Please?
 
Sounds the same as an old mossberg 400 that I had, you have to unscrew the mag tube from the reciever. Easy to do, they ususally are not tight.

Thanks for your reply, i have tried to remove the mag tube by clamping some non marring latex coated felt around the tube and only succeeding in polishing the mag tube in a section.. I can grab some 1/4" rubber from work and clamp it around and try to twist it off but now im worried about damaging the aluminum reciever or wooden stock, on that note these are right hand threads right? The tube appears to be factory torqued into place and years of firing have all but fused the mag tube to reciever it would seem.
 
Right hand threads as I remember. I believe I used a strap wrench on mine, it is just a plastic handle with a rubberized plastic strap. A little penetrant on the threads may not hurt either if it hasn't been off before. Removing it is the only way that fore end is coming off.

Yeah i looked a bit closer and could see some right hand threads sticking out. Ill grab a strap wrench, maybe two to hold onto the reciever as well, penetrating oil is an excellent suggestion, i forget sometimes not everything about guns is super special and sometimes its good to go back to proven methods. Again thanks.
 
I used heat to unscrew my first 500, and just hand tight after that. I use a tube mounted sling swivel on it. It's had many barrel's. An unsharpened pencil is perfect to block the tube for 3 shot hunting law.
