Was looking through my fathers basement the other day, stumbled across his old case of 7.62X39 ammo.
The Case of 1100 (maybe 1200, that type of idea) 7.62x39 non corrosive Norinco ammo (silver box, each round in a styrofoam holder), along with a Norinco SKS was purchased from a local gun store.

Looking at the case with further inspection I noticed there was a paper tag stamped on the top of the wood crate, that said it was shipped from MARSTAR.

Its probably 5+ years old, but im just curious what happened to that supply. Norinco stop making the stuff? Chinese govt take it all? Or was that all Chinese govt surplus that ran out?

Seeing the marstar tag got me curious!

that was before PR opened up. a ship needs a secondary port if the main one is not available.

before the only option was in washington state. no NORINCO anything allowed in the states. if there was on 20ft container loaded, the ship was not allowed to port.

last i heard was chinese ammo price was on par with US ammo.

I got a crate of Norinco 7.62 x 39mm, non - corrosive, " Soft Point " 122 Grain , shipped up from Levers , --- a " Few " years ago. I believe it was 1200 Rds; per crate , green/white boxs , China Sports, ( 20 per box ) in styroform as well , still sitting on some of it. I think I payed about $129 -39 or around, at that time. Have no idea where or what port it came though, still got the old crate around someplace !!?? --- not as if I,d throw anything away ;) -- but haven,t seen any of that ammo around for years, it may have come from Marstar, don,t know??

I bought a crapload of that stuff back in the mid 90's. If I remember correctly, they had a good deal (something like $85/case) if you bought 10 or more cases :)

Dang. And to think I just dropped $360 for 2 cases. The price of ammo blows.

I bought over 10+ cases of the stuff from Lever way back in the mid 90's. I still have 3 cases left! :p

I'm just thinking loud, can the container can arrive in Halifax or Montreal? I know the cost will be more but a lot cheaper than Winchester or Remington. (I don't want to shoot corrosive ammo in my rifles.)

I will take a 2 crates of 7.62x39 and two other in 5.56x42 if the price in good (Not 500$ per 1000 rounds)

I think we are FAR more likely to eventually see Wolf sell 7.62 ammo in Canada than we ar to see the Norinco stuff again, unless the US lifts existing bans (doubtful).

BTW, out of all those 7+ cases I've shot not one round has failed or stovepiped in any of my guns. They were all the silver boxed syrofoam pack FMG non-reloadable rounds.
I found them more accurate than the North American brass cased rounds.

I would drop $$ on another 10 cases if they ever came back. I find myself shooting them sparingly now that I'm "low".
