I love the old purple imperial ammo. Those are spicy.

We have been slamimg birds the last few years with a stash of C.I.L. 12,16, and 20 gauge ammo from the late 50's and 60's that is crazy powerful!
Back when 1 1/4 ounce #4 and #2 20 gauge ammo was very common stuff, for pheasants and waterfowl.
I have watched as my son made a perfect shot a few years back on an honest 50 yard straight left to right crossing rooster with an Imperial 12 gauge, 1 3/8oz extra long range -ZOUNDS!

Have a couple boxes of #4,5 & 6, they pack a wallop on game and your shoulder, going to be sad when they are all gone.

At that price, they might have thought something was wrong with them. I routinely buy old shotgun ammo for $30 or more a box if it’s in good or better condition. I have a bit of an old powder can ammo collection started. They’d have not gone home with you had I been there Dennis. Hope your enjoying retirement.

Sometimes I buy old ammo, especially hard to find locally like 16 gauge shotshells, for good prices on auctions and use it for shooting and hunting. It still works fine.

I love love using old shells in old guns.

Those old high brass Imperials were awesome for sure, on the shoulder too. I once shot a triple on pheasants in my favourite vineyard outside Kelowna with special long range #6 in my 1100.

Used to have a few old boxes of Imperial and Canuck shot shells bought from country hardware stores. In pencil written on box was price per box then also listed in pencil 30 cents apiece.
