Does anyone have a decent idea of what model (I'm guessing it's a 9) Parker sight this is, and approximte date of production (again guessing but pre-WW1). The address is one that I'm not familiar with for Parker/Parker-Hale.

Very interesting! Perhaps the address pre-dates the Parker-Hale merger? I just received my 1938 Parker-Hale Sporting Section Catalogue (scanned & reprinted by Cornell Publications) and that sight isn't listed in it, so pre- or around WWI may well be right.

I posted on Milsurps, and opinion seems to be that it's an early Number 9 sight or a precursor (very early - pre 1894) for a Lee Metford, mounted on a conversion plate for an SMLE. Interestingly, the whole sight folds up to lie along the side of the rifle, allowing the use of service sights.

Alfred J Parker was a different company from Parker-Hale. His sights were considered to be of better quality than Parker Hale. Check out http://www.rifleman.org.uk/PH_Service_sights.htm to find out more about these sights.

That website is a gold mine of information. Excellent pics. of the Nº9 sight, too.

I have an AGP "Parkerifled" large-frame Martini in .22 Hornet which I am working up loads for. I have no doubt it will be quite accurate. I also have a .303 Martini which which needs their attention to improve the 12-lb. trigger pull. Alas, 50+ years too late and the wrong country. And it would now cost a lot more than 15/.

Alfred J was the son of Alfred G. - AG teamed up with another well known shooter of that time (Arthur Hale) to form Parker-Hale, but he had been in business for many years before that. AJ formed his own company that lasted into the 1990's. This sight was made during the earliest period of AG Parker's business.
