Wow, thank you all for your answers! Im not trying to be a professional sniper lol, so doesnt need to be as precise as a precision rifle, so XCR it is.. and I Can find them alot more than an MDI platform.

Yes, you can find them more readily than SLRs. Spares are only available from Wolverine. SLR spares at dozens of places in Canada.

The XCR is a very reliable platform.
Sold mine to build a MS,
but the new Competition models are a lot lighter than my old quad rail version with heavy barrel.

My car is lighter than one of those rifles. LOL.

I sold my keymod XCR-L with the pencil barrel to buy my SLR, and I do not regret it. My take:

If you want to customize it as you wish; SLR for sure. It's that much more of an AR-ish rifle, and I find that to be the most enjoyable part of the rifle. That, and the availability of off the shelf parts should I ever need them. Spare parts for the XCR were XCR specific and less plentiful and more expensive

If you want an out of the box rifle that you don't need to mess with, the XCR-L is a solid choice. Aside from the side charging handle, I could argue that the ergonomics on the XCR are actually better thanks to the bolt catch/release tabs from the factory; it seems like a small thing, but it really was the icing on the cake for that rifle.

In the end, my familiarity and desire to have an AR clone is what led me to my SLR, but you can't really go wrong either way.

Well if you cant find a MDI SLR its for a reason. they are seling out before the hit the stores. if you can find the XCR its because people are buying other non restricted platforms now. Everyone is buying up NR as they(gov) don't know you have them. For parts availability and cost the MDI SLR all day long. The MDi have come a long way since the first sets. They are in my opinion as good as the ATRS sets. I have handled both recently.

So many people ragging on MDI, yeah, they had some consistency issues early on, but things have been pretty stellar as of late. Mine was beautifully crafted, I stand by their hardware 100%

100% agree with you, they're awesome receivers. Only thing I like more with the ATRS is the forward assist (for no logical reason) haha.
