I believe the last time I sent one in for repair I was given the option of having the post all the time, or no post at all.eventually it would malfunction the post would not come up to centre or not come up at all really don't see a advantage to it but some shooters liked it
My dad loved his but when it started fogging up he sent it in to be fixed and they sent him another scope not the same. Was just trying to find him another oneI bought one (1.5x4.5) in 1976. Was on a Browning Bar 3006 until about 2000. Then transferred to a Rem 12 ga slug gun. These were my hunting guns and shot a fair amount before seasons opened. It is still a very clear scope and command post works well. I've always been impressed with it. If I remember correctly cost about a hundred bucks at that time. The Bar was bought used for 300 bucks at the same time. An accurate hunting combination I used for years- deer and moose.
