Well Gunnuterz, it seems i have yet another question to ask you guys, i have a shotgun here that i know nothing about, and when i googled it a while ago, i couldn't really find any information on it.

I was wondering if any of you know about it or know at least some its history..

So what im talking about is a Davenport shotgun, it is a 12ga. and im not sure on the chamber size(like 2 and 3/4", 3", etc.)

The gun has some issues, the main one being unfireable :p. Regardless, i want to see if you know anything about it.

My main question is in regards to a little flap on the right hand side of the receiver, it opens up to a hole that looks like it goes into the receiver, im wondering if this is simply for cleaning purposes, or if it has some other, unknown to me, purpose.

Pictures of the gun are right here at,

Thanks for your time guys, i really appreciate it

The "flap" is used to turn and remove the pin which holds the barrel to the action for takedown. Most hinge action guns use a fixed pin and a hooked lug on the barrel to permit takedown. Yours apparently does not.
