Hey folks. I have come into the possession of an old shotgun and not entirely sure what to make of it. It is a single barrel break-action. The stampings are quite small and difficult to read. I'm assuming it's a 12 gauge but that's just a guess due to a 12 stamped on the underside of the barrel. I have some basic photos of it but am unable to post attachments at this time.

Pretty hard to give you any help without a picture or better description of the markings. I'd say its safe to assume its a 12 gauge of its got 12 stamped on the barrel. Try sliding a 12 ga shell into it. If the whole is wide enough to accommodate then you've got your answer.

What size of 12 ga is a different matter. Probably a 2 3/4" but if its real old it may be 2 1/2". Again can't help you without pics.

Use the macro setting for your camera, DON'T use a flash but instead use natural light - outside is best. And put the gun on a dark background.
