I am trying to help a freind ID this rifle.

It has the markings

DRP
Germany

and

Mod
I

Any ideas? It appears to be a single shot 22.

it is a deutsche werke #1, The .22 is an example of an economy rifle that was sold for a very low price - or used as an incentive for marketing programs - in the post-WW1 period.

I think mpjustin is prob right . I do know that the first rifle I ever shot looked just like that. It was my grandfathers, he had it a good many years and my father ended up with it . Not sure what became of it but fondly remember it being very accurate , though it must have had thousands of rounds down it .
 
Value? They are not rare, they were imported for a long time and they are not partictularly well made. They are in about the same catagory as a Cooey single shot for both price and quality, although if you sold enough seeds you could get one and your sister could get a doll. Figure on $20.00 for the one you have pictured and $60.00 for a minty one. They are kinda fun though!

I have my dad's old gun. First gun I ever shot and I'm not going to part with it for sentimental value. Good little bush gun, what's it weight, like 3 lbs?
