Old time pic

I love that nobody is looking at the camera except for the dog...... with that proud "Gary Larson" look on its face......

Don't get me wrong, nothing bad about a fella posing with his harvest..... but that looks like a true snapshot in time.....

Nice photo, but the instant crustyisms in response have me perplexed. Who hunts upland with camo, rangefinders, and large ATVs? ;) It's still done here just as that photo shows, albeit with a lighter bag at the end of the day!

Crustyism ? I have been hunting on foot now for better than 60 seasons now. I have about seen folks hunting in about every manner possible. The comment was more along the lines of seeing the simple casual way of hunting, compared to camo down to your shorts, ripping around on a wheeler all the while trying to get past the person ahead of you. Just to get to the next bird first. Nothing instant about my crustyisms either. Been working at it a long time. I hope you see the humor in my last lines.

Yesterday I was driving the five miles to our shooting range, on a paved backroad in typical south central BC, flanked by small farms, when a flock of California quail appeared on the road ahead. I stopped, trying to count them, but some crossed the road in front of me, while the majority stayed on a gravel driveway, milling around, picking up grit.
I counted to 25, then gave up, estimating I had counted about half of the flock!

Somewhere there is a pic of my Grandfather with a friend/coworker of his with a real nice bull moose my Grandfather shot with the model 71 I inherited from him. Picture was taken around '60 or '61 hunting back at the Fredrickhouse Dam near Connaught, Ont.
