I have a post 1971 Win 101 12 ga. with a serial number beginning in K. It has full and mod. fixed chokes and can shoot 2 3/4" or 3" shells. Has anyone any experience with installing the Brielly Companion or Side Kick tubes in 20 ga. I would like to use the gun for skeet and since it can't shoot steel shot I cannot use it for migratory birds. (haven't used the gun since the lead ban came into effect). Are there other tube manufacturers?

The barrel walls are pretty thin on a 101 and I know that there are tubes meant for that, but I'd just open them up. You don't say how long the barrel is, but maybe a chop is in order?

I shoot skeet with a 101, but the fixed barrels came like that. There's also an "outside" chance to find replacement barrels. TradeEx had some Nikko 5000 barrels, no idea if they'd fit but they did once make 101's for Winchester.

I shoot a 101 that is choked SK/SK in 12 ga that I also use Briley full length sub gauge tubes in. I have both 20 ga and 28 ga tubes for it. Tubes tap in and out with the Briley slide hammer tool without a problem.

You can't use steel shot hunting loads in sub-gauge tubes either . Briley and Kolar will be the first to tell you their tubes are designed for target loads only with velocities 1200fps and under.
