Been studying some of these threads awn'ear.
Then I thought about my old 92 in 44-40.
What came to mind is that this ol'gal has a wee bit of ah hidden sea-kritt.

The arf cawk doesn't hold properly.
I can pull the trigger rather furiously and pull over the built in safety.

Curious to know what is worn out or damaged in the center of this levers universe?

I noticed that there is a lever for sale in the EE and was wondering iff'in it was werth the
cost to move one to the t'other?

Or just live with it.

I don't see it as a serious threat, but knowing me as I do, I like my chit to be prawper.

Any input from our breather'in?

I have had the exact same issue with a '73 Winchester. Hammer will hold half #### but, will fire when the trigger is pulled.

The lip on the half #### notch is worn or broken off. My solution was to replace the hammer with a used original hammer from Homestead Parts in Arizona

I can send a couple pics to your email and maybe you could post them here. My membership expired

You can also get the hammer repaired. I think maybe Rusty Wood or Vulcan could do it

Something's worn or broken on your sear or hammer (like Joe said - likely the half-#### notch). Should be easy enough to see the issue when you disassemble, and you can get the parts easy enough, especially out of the 'States. Homestead, Numrich, etc.

Good luck

You are not supposed to pull the trigger while in "half ####". That notch is supposed to prevent the hammer from going forward if the rifle receives a hard jolt... as if you dropped it. Push hard on the hammer while in half ####... does it hold or fail?

This could also be the trigger itself or buildup in the notch (preventing the trigger/sear from fully seating). All 3 situations you can probably fix with a file (or a good cleaning).

But you know ~ listen to guntech first.

Haven’t tried this.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Wow.

Got home from Lumby and wiped down the purchases and put them away.

92 was within me reach.

Furgit to test it.

Came awn’ear and uttered some werds.

Go back out and stop and look around.

Ahhh, beer fridge.

Grabbed a kewl reeb.

Zoom zoom.........:slap:

So I just checked.

Arf cawk’d and no forward movement pushing heavily with my thumb.

Should be good to go.

Thanks Dennis.
