I picked up an older Browning in Kamloops the other day. When I called the CFC to register it, the fellow on the other end couldn't ID it for registration.

It is a Sako built for Browning. It is a lightweight rifle with the stepped barrel. The only markings on it are the serial number on the right side of the barrel and Calibre 308 0nly Made in Finland. On the left side is Browning Arms Company.
The rifle has a polished blue finish and a walnut stock with checkering on the grip and fore end.
The triggergaurd and hinged mag floorplate are roll engraved and blued, polished steel.

If anyone can help with the FRT number and model, it would be much appreciated.

According to the FRT disk, your rifle is a Browning Model 'High Power Lightweight' FRT#41680. It is a Sako L579 action and was manufactured sometime between 1959 and 1968(serial # on the rt side)
