I have an older Burris 2-7 that came with a recently acquired Savage 99 in .243 and I noticed when I took iit out for the first time that there was a yellow tint to the glass. It functioned fine, holds a zero and is in decent shape, but the yellow tint bothers me a bit. Is it worth anything still or is it something that people may have a preference for? I was thinking of maybe tossing a Pentax 1.75-5 on it and using it around the bush and treelines, as I have another .243 set up for longer range. Is the Pentax a reasonable scope? Its got super clear glass, but if it's not going to live long, I'll buy a Vortex.

I don't know if the colour of your glass is original or not? If it isn't it might constitute a warranty failure. I bought a used gun many years ago with an old, non-functioning Redfield scope on it. i phoned Redfield and told them how the scope was broken. They had me send it in and gave me full credit toward the purchase of one of their new scopes since it had a lifetime warranty on it...about a $400 credit! That was a sweet discovery. It may be worth checking out...

...if it just purposefully tinted yellow then it is for low light or foggy conditions...
