Hey folks, I have a quick question about scopes that might be a no-brainer for most of ya's, but I am not a scope expert by any means so here goes.

I currently have an old 2.5K Weaver on my 300 Savage (Model 99) that I am considering sending out for some refreshing work. While that scope is off the gun, I want to put another scope on it. What I have available at the moment is an older Bushnell Banner 4x that currently sits on my Marlin 25MN 22 WMR. I'd guess that the Banner scope is 20 - 25 years old, but I could be wrong. It is in much better shape than the Weaver, however the Weaver must be pushing 50+ years old and doesn't owe me anything, thats for sure.

My question, is the Banner 4x suitable for a little deer hunting atop my old Savage? Although the 300 Savage is pretty tame when it comes to recoil, I am guessing there would be a fair amount more recoil than the 22 WMR and I do not want to damage the scope. The Banner is a hell of a lot brighter and clearer than the Weaver, that is why I am considering sending the Weaver out to get refurbished.

Thanx.

I am a firm believer that those old scopes are more readier than the current supply.
You have nothing to fear c'ept fear itself.
I would do it.
Who knows, maybe that little optic boost may flavor yer eyes?

LOL no doubt it would be better for my eyes for sure.

But I think I just answered my own question. Just took a better look at the Banner and it is marked "Bushnell Banner 22", should have looked at it before I made my original post (my memory is not what it used to be lol). So I am thinking it is not a good idea to put it on the Savage (unless some of you more knowledgeable guys think something different).
