Has anyone come up with a solution for older eyes on a Stevens Favourite rifle - I am not adverse to drill and tap for either aperture sight on receiver, or scope bases - I am not too nuts about drill and tap into a barrel, but I suppose I can do that with some planning and thought.
I have a couple that were originally in 25-Stevens that have had Redman liners installed and now use .22 Long Rifle - so I was thinking about how I could use either aperture sights or a modern rimfire scope, instead of that barrel mounted rear sight - getting hard to see that one any more. One is marked as Model 1915 and the other is earlier than that - so maybe drilling is just not a good idea from the get go. I did come up with a Parker Hale "swing away" version of a peep sight - a PH 16 N - thank you CGN - that simply clamped on to the dovetail of a BRNO No. 1, so maybe cutting a dovetail might be the solution, versus drill and tap.
Let me know of solutions that you are aware of that have been done.
