NORINCO MADE IN CHINA

I googled it and this is all I found...

Ser# is 001###

CJA

The third importer, CJA (Southfield, MI) imported Chinese rifles for a short time just prior to September 13, 1994. The stamping CJA SLFD MICH appears on some Norinco rifles. CJA imported the best looking Chinese M14 rifles into the United States. Representatives from CJA traveled to State Arsenal 356 in China to discuss the assembly process of the M14 type rifles it wished to import. These rifles were assembled with walnut stocks and new production parts with a very good finish.

Is mine a goodie or a soft bolt, my #### will fall off  rifle....

I did the same thing. (bought the m-14 for $799, back in 2002, IIRC)

Mine is a #002###

Knowing a little more would be nice. Never had it headspaced. I've put only about 500 rounds down the pipe with it. The wear on the bolt locking lugs looks square and even though.

they didn't ALL have soft bolts- i've got a 1990 issue that i got off alan lever that's just fine- and i've put about probably 10k mil surplus (ivi) through it- maybe hungry or differnent could tell you if yours is suspect-and i paid 349 for mine, otc- but that was BEFORE lever figured they could get 800 for them

One of mine is the early Lever guns as well. Serial number 0080XX, same rollstamp as you have.

Honetly, aside from a little bit of a rougher finish on the op rod shelf, the rest of the receiver is more nicely fit and finished than either my 2007 Norc or my 2009 Polytech - it's a nice receiver.

As for bolt, can't speak to that, I had installed a GI bolt back when I first got it, been running that ever since.

See if you can attend M-14 Doctors clinic in 100 Mile in August. Exact date not finalized yet though. He can check everything out for you. Also do a few mods if you need them. It would be nice to meet up in person.

In April 1983, the People’s Armed Police Force was formed out of the People’s Liberation Army in China. The People’s Armed Police Force is tasked with protecting government buildings and providing security to public corporations and for large public gatherings. Some time later, China Jing An (No. 25, Xitangzi Lane North Wang Fu Jing Street Beijing 10006 People’s Republic of China) was formed as an arms export firm for the financial interests of the People’s Armed Police Force. China Jing An (CJA) operated its business in Southfield, Michigan from 1989 until at least 1997. The engraving CJA SFLD MICH appears on Norinco M14 type receivers. CJA imported Norinco M14 rifles into the United States from at late 1992 until May 1994.

As always Different your welth of knowledge on this matter still shock's me even to this day.
Thanx for the insight

early norc. mine was (sold it about 5-6 yrs ago) built by a guy on vancouver island from a g.i. parts kits. the funny thing about mine was all the markings and ser# were all etched (no spamps of any kind) onto the receiver. all parts were GI with a fiberglass stock. wish i still had it.

Here come the pics (sorry 56k)

Here are the pictures as promised

The markings on the side of the receiver: (poorly stamped)

The rear sight is awful on this rifle. It doesn't have nice 'clicks' to it and trying to adjust the windage is a lost cause.

The serial number is etched onto the under side of the bolt #02### it says.

I've never had headspace checked:eek: so I'm not sure if my dzck will fall off:runaway:
The wood ended up not too bad with the old oil removed and stain/tung oil applied.
There seems to be quite a bit of fore/aft movement to the bolt (as you can see in pic #4), but the locking surfaces match up very tightly.

Dan

the last norinco i saw that had a "terrible rear sight' simply had to have the nut on the right side tightened up- same symtoms as yours, and the ladder would fall down on it's own-before condeming the sight, if your shoes, i'd talk to hungry or someone more knowledgeable

Please remove the reciever from the stock. Under the bolt catch lever you will find a set of number's. These number's will tell you when your rifle was made. If you can take a pic of these we can nail down when your rifle was created. But from the apearance of it I would have to say early 1990's leaning towards 93 or 94 but I can be wrong.

Different has a data base of a bunch of these numbers associated with production dates. According to that, your rifle was born july of 1993.
