Older Ruger No.1V target scope block compatibility with modern scope rings?

I have an older Ruger No. 1V in 22-250 that has target scope blocks for use with externally adjustable rings which are roughly 7.25 inches apart. There is no third set of holes drilled to allow for modern shorter tube scopes. I would prefer not to drill any new holes in the rifle. While I continue to search for an original Unertl or Lyman target scope to use, does anyone know if there are any scope rings (probably extension rings given the distance between the blocks) that would actually work with these old target scope blocks to allow the use of a regular internally adjustable scope? My search for answers to this have come up empty so far...

Any thoughts or insight is appreciated,
Cheers

I would contact Steve Earle in the states. He makes all sorts of scope blocks to solve all sorts of problems. He has a big following in the single shot rifle world. I believe that he makes a number of products that are not listed on his web site.

Google SteveEarleProducts and you'll find his site.
