Older Scopes

i have a Bushnell Scopechief 1V 2.5- 8x command post what kind of gun could i mount it on .and is it any good . are older scope any good compared to the new stuff. Thank You.

I would suggest a Griffin & Howe Springfield 1903 Sporter in .30-06 or 7x57 mauser. Would be just about perfect!

PS: Before you experts out there start laughing, rifle shown is valued at US$ 4K to 6K. ;)

The scope was top of the line in its day (35-40 years ago). As long as it tracks accurately and holds its zero, feel free to use it on anything. I agree that a classic .30-06 would be a great choice. How about a pre-'64 Model 70? Or a Remington Model 725? Or an old Sako Finnbear? :)

Older scopes don't have the lens coatings of the modern scopes, so they may not reproduce colours as well, they may be a bit darker and appear a bit "murkier". However, as long as you can see the target clearly, that's all you need.
