Hey guys,

How long has Tasco been making the Pronghorn in China? Were they ever made in Japan, or is this a newer model brought in after the company's sale in 1996? I realize that the current Pronghorn model is a piece of junk . . .

I bought a .308 Parker Hale with an older Tasco Pronghorn scope on it and am contemplating replacement with a Bushnell Trophy. But the older Tasco seems decently bright, and it's taken a few bucks and moose already for the previous owner . . .. and money is tight as always. :(

I had a late '80's production 3-9x40 Pronghorn on a .338 win mag for twenty years and it worked fine. I'd definitely reccomend grabbing one at a decent price if you can find one.

If its clear and bright and seems to be holding its zero, why worry about it right now? By all means keep an eye out for deals, but why not wait and save up?

I'm worried about it 'cuz moose season starts in three weeks. :D But I'll go put some ammo through it and see how it holds. The previous owner recommended replacing it because it was "old." Dunno what that means.

I have a 1.75-5X20 that is probably 26 years old had it on a 6mm deer rifle for aprox. 15 years and now on a muzzle loader for the last 10 and as far as I can recall have not had to change zero since being mounted. Oh ya this one was made in Japan.
