Gee…I thought you were referring to me but that ‘financially responsible’ part was an instant elimination. lol
When everything .25/.32cal was put on the chopping block I who was a competitive pistol shooter(at that time) arranged a meeting with the then Deputy Prime Minister and we discussed that there were a number of Olympic class pistols that were .32cal S&W Long. These specific pistols were then permitted to stay in the restricted class, eg. Walther GSP, Sako Tri-ace, Pardini and a few others. The .32cals were utilized in the ISU matches…the .22LR(shorts) were utilized in the duel rapid fire matches….
I really sympathize for the new shooters now trying to buy any type of handgun. Do I self designate as an Olympic competitor to qualify to purchase a competitive type pistol??? How do I know I can even become an Olympic class shooter if I can’t buy an appropriate gun? The classic chicken & egg scenario…what comes first?
Personally I think anyone/everyone that has recently acquired a RPAL should contact the CFO and ask to be able to buy a competition handgun for Olympic designated training in the hopes of making the National Team….It might work for some but it will be hitting a brick wall for most others. The political will presently is anti anything that is firearms related. These days you can’t be proud winning a gold medal in competition and standing on the podium after years of hard work and training… but ironically you can have instant Pride marching down a street in Toronto waving a flag along side of arguably the worst Prime Minister in the history of Canada. Wish there were a few statues of JT around, something people could tear down 10 years down the road.
I have a lot of hope in PP, our next Prime Minister. In him I see more than a politician, I see him as a real man who truly means what he says…and he is brilliant and our best hope to return some sanity to this country in more ways than one.
Please get out and vote.
