So my brother in law brings over his spare 870 for me to borrow/repair. I swear he must have kept it in the sump pump well. The reciever was patterned with rust like creeping charlie.
Two hours later, and a whole lot of Hoppes #9 and breakfree, it looks like a gun again. No pitting that I can see, but I suspect a trip to the beadblaster and park tank are in it's future.
Fortunately i also had a spare stock and forend, as they were both busted in one way or another.
Now I just have to find a spare trigger guard or complete trigger plate assembly, as his was damaged when he had to remove a trigger lock without a key. It was the cheap plastic trigger guard and a chunk broke off.
