HI, looking to buy a Norc CQ 10,5" model, and i wish to put a quad rail on it.

I notice some are longer than others. Is it a standard size or should i be looking for a specific length?

any help would be much appreciated.

Just a quick question.

Why do you want to buy a rail for a rifle you don't even own yet? Do you have extensive experience with ARs? Why not buy the rifle. Shoot a few thousand rounds, and then decide what, if anything you need to change to improve your handling, etc.?

Just because it looks cool and the deltarangernavyseals use it, doesn't mean it will make using the rifle any easier, or improve your shooting. Save your money, buy more mags and ammo, get some training, or just buy a more expensive AR to begin with. Why buy a $700 AR and put $500 worth of tacticool junk on it, when you can buy a $1200 AR?

Of course, it is your money, so buy what you want. Just be aware that you may have some issues fitting "milspec" parts to a Norc.

Regards.

Carbine length, unless you want to have it go past the FSB, which would require you to either replace it or shave it to fit underneath the quad rail.

This is what a 10.5" barrel looks like with a 10" Troy MRF-MX rail.

Hence my last paragraph. People either ask questions like this because they haven't used the search function, or they have already made up their minds and are just looking for validation.

They usually ignor anything that does not give them the validation they were looking for, or go with the advice of the person who already has one, and is justfying their purchase by telling everyone who will listen how great it is.

I really could care less if someone on the internet ignores what I write. I don't get paid to do this, and my advice is usually the result of actual experience with something, or comes from listening to others who actually know what they are talking about.

Regards.

For about the same price that it will cost you to put a rail on a Norinco, you can have this....just saying.....This is the 7.5 model, but its available in the 10.5 as well..

Available in 10.5" version, yes. But not with that collapsible buttstock and proprietary BCG/ operating system. :(

Normally I'm a fan of Norc stuff, it does the job (most of us are just playing) and is cheap, in this case however, I have to agree with the guys suggesting you buy an NEA. By the time you mount a decent rail on the Norc (or even an indecent one) you're at the price point for an NEA, there is a major difference in quality (even just on the LPK's) and the NEA comes with a rail fitted. I'm not knocking the Norc, but just based on the folks who are producing the NEA (and the fact they're doing so right here in Canada) the NEA is a better deal.

The OP did not ask for advice on what he should do just what was the correct rail lenght to get.

Who died and made you the sheriff of internetland?

I told him he could do whatever he wanted, I was just posing a couple of questions that he probably hadn't asked himself after he saw some cool pics online somewhere and decided he "needed" it.

If the carbine has a fixed front sight base, go with the 7" rail. If there is no fixed FSB or you plan on replacing it, and want extra rail space, a 9 or even 10" rail will work. Troy builds some very good products and they're a snap to install compared to some others.

If you're new to the AR game and looking to get into a new rifle, the NEA enhanced AR is a very good buy and already has a quad rail. For an entry level AR that is machined, not cast, AND 100% made in Canada, it really is hard to beat.

Careful X-man.

You're offering advice the OP didn't ask for.

Badboy will be along in a minute to slap you on the peepee.

Just a word of caution last guy I saw put a rail on a Norc CQB had to replace the steel bit that goes on the front of the handguards by the front sight because it was the wrong diameter.
