One Glock... how many calibers?!

I have always been a SIG 22x and 1911 guy, but lately I've been thinking about getting a Glock. I especially like the modularity of it. I was looking at getting a G22 with 9mm and .357 SIG barrels... the 3 calibers I already shoot with only 1 registration. But, I just saw a video on Youtube where a guy demonstrated the ability to shoot 11 different calibers with only a G20. In most cases it was a new barrel (and spring sometimes) and for some a new slide (plus a mag if needed). If true, that is definitely impressive and intriguing. One could simply buy a barrel and a 20 (or so) round box of ammo they've never shot but would like to try out. (This would also be a bonus for the prepper-minded.)

Anyway, I'm asking all you Glock guys; what you do you think? Is this legit? Any foreseeable problems?

2 issues I see:

1-I really doubt the stock g20 extractor works, reliably, with all cartridges listed.

2- "crimping" feed lips of mags to fit other calibers would make a prohib device, if said mag held a higher round count. Which it most certainly would especially a G20 mag with 9mm loaded into it.

3-Just a personal opinion, but those barrels are nasty looking. Not in a good way.
 
I have the G-22 and the Lone Wolf conversion bbl. for 9mm. I bought a 9mm magazine as well. It does work but the 9mm brass ends up on your head. Some 9mm rounds are said to not work at all, weak loads, white box stuff.

It is heresy to speak badly of a Glock but you will notice a lot of difference in the kick from the Glock compared to the same round in a 1911. IMHO I would leave the Glock to the true believers, lovers of the brand. It is an experience I can live without.

1. Extractor... I'll have to look into that.

2. Didn't the RCMP say that was ok?

3. I don't care about looks, just functionality and versatility.

Just bought a G17. my 6th pistol and i must say I'm impressed. I used to hate on Glocks but I'm hitting earplugs at 30m so i really cant complain. It sounds like a fantastic idea to see how many calibers you can fire without many mods. good luck.

x2. if you want to shoot 9mm, get a G17 or G19.
 
I have a G20 and I shoot 10mm, .40S&W and .357 SIG. Both variations are simple barrel swaps. I knew I could add others but that's a long list. I'm OK with what I have. His list does seem legit though. One of those carbine kits was up for sale on the EE about 6 months ago. I don't see myself doing anything that would require modifying a magazine. If I did, I would have it done and pinned so that the limit was 10 after modifying the mag. If I wanted to shoot the smaller calibers, I would go with a smaller gun.

I believe for the smaller calibers he found an aftermarket slide (LWD) that would go right onto the G20 and take barrels for 9mm, etc.

I'm thinking this might be cost effective and cut down on the number of restricted registrations.

I'm not up to 10 restricteds (yet), but I hear that could trigger an inspection from the RCMP.

I have a G21 with an extra 400cb barrel and a complete 22 upper. Makes life easier. In the plans: 460Rowland barrel. A full slide for 10mm and barrels for 40sw and 357sig. I would not mess with the lips on my magazines - just buy a few extra for the appropriate caliber.
 
If you ever chambered and tried to fire a .357 Sig in a .40 barrel or some other weird combination could you cause serious problems? I don't if that combination would work but with eleven calibers I would imagine a few wouldn't mix well, no?

It's a good point. I have my magazines labelled with the caliber I am using and the barrels are easy to see. I'm super careful with it. I've seen some videos where people shoot incorrect calibers in G20's and it works fine. I'm not interested in that experiment. I only have 3 but I still keep an eye on it and only leave it assembled in the 10mm stock configuration when in the safe.
