They say "beware the man who owns only one gun, he likely knows how to use it." has anyone ever met one of these people? I can't imagine, they must be endangered or extremely rare, like unicorns maybe. I have nightmares about having to pick just one, it would be like having to decide which of my kids was my favorite. Oh, the horror...well maybe the USP 40, or my old 92F or... ah, see what I mean?

I have both of the guns that you mentioned, and still can't decide between the two!

I always thought that I would only own one handgun...that was when I first got my RPAL. After I bought my first gun, and a Beretta it was, the only thing that I could think of was when I would be buying my next!

And the saga continues...

A friend of mine owns an sks and nothing else. He says its all he needs, takes deer with soft point at ranges he is comfy shooting, his kids can handle it, and ammo is cheap for range trips. I only have one hand gun and my wife has the one I got her. But we dont count, the safe is packed lol

i only own one gun ( for each purpose)

one gun for rimfire bullseye
one for centre fire
one for nra .45
one for ssr
one for esp
one for ssp
one for cdp
one for ppc
one that shoots .38 S&W
one that is an heirloom
one that reminds me of my military competiton days
one just for fun
one for plinking

a whole lotta ones - you get the picture

What is it for? When you can answer that question deciding which one to choose becomes easier. It not necessarily the one we want the most, but it will be the best one for the job that need doing. Lets say we have 3 basic categories to fill: wildlife defense, gun fighting, and target shooting. While a 1911 might be the best fighting gun to ever come down the pike, its lacking as a bear gun and is only mediocre as a target pistol. A .500 Wyoming Express SA revolver might do well for wildlife defense or target shooting, but a SA is arguably less than ideal as a fighting gun. Yet a Smith M-19 .357 magnum while not the best at any one thing, does pretty well at all of them. For many years a S&W .357 magnum was my handgun.

I think that at one time, that cliche was true, because most of the older generations were not as well off as the Canadians of today and couldn't afford a safe full or rifles, shotguns or handguns. They were as skilled as the gunnutz of today with their firearms, even though it was only with one rifle or shotgun. I remember my dad telling me that when he was a kid, a bunch of them would take a rifle and a box of .22 shorts down to the creek and plink all weekend. You would never see that now, and if you did, it would make national headlines and renewed calls for gun control.

The bold is inaccurate. Folks today aren't any more wealthy than days past. They simply have more credit, where older generations didn't have any.

As for one gun. I can't say I only have one, but I run one style of handgun and always have. I have two AR's but they're near identical for redundancy purposes. I have a shotgun for competing and a bolt gun for kicks. If this was a free country I would own an AR a pistol and be done.

Lets just say, for 'hypothetical sake' that there was a war & Canada asked everyone who owned guns to sacrifice all they had for the soldiers but you were allowed to keep One rifle & One handgun (.22s excluded as who is going to go to war nowadays with a .22 - lol)

I would keep my Sig P229R & my Marlin 45-70. I could NEVER get tired of shooting either of those and grinning. Hmmmm.... might have to do a range day now - haha !

Yep, I could easily live with just those two (IF THAT WAS MY ONLY OPTION - I enjoy all my firearms :D )

I don't know if I could possibly do it, but for me the very bottom line is defined by number "two". It all comes down to Remington 870 and S&W model 27.
Between those two...I just can't pick up "the one" :)

The CF wouldn't want our guns. They weren't manufactured in quebec for 4x the off the shelf price.
