I was down in Base hospital and I picked up a TRIDENT (navy newspaper) because It caught my eye seeing a PGW Timberwolf on the cover. So I read and seen this, Master Seamen Brad BrownE was about Marlant. (spelling corrected too....I mean really, my name's in the article correct....)

They finally came out 5 days before we deployed and said we could grab the new stuff. I was too busy getting my shop and my family in order before going away for almost 3 weeks to worry about a uniform change.

Got jacked up by a General for it though!

Hey NS

How in hell did you get a East Coast navy team to shoot CFSAC? I've been asking out here for years, only to fall on deaf ears. The last one I was in 92:(. Did the BART team from the UK. show up? Did you guys live on the range in bell tents. Drink a lot of beer and still kick some army ass? The memories, the memories:p We wore our work dress with ball caps. The first year that they came out ( ball caps that is). Had some Van Doo weenies whine that the ball cap was illegal because it gave us an unfair advantage in the hot Ontario sun. Someone had a copy of the new navy dress regs and put that arguement to bed. As for being jacked up. We had to take a set of whites, had a imprompt to hands fall in, go figure, had a scruffy submarine forget his shoes, so Bob wore his running shoes. The inspecting officer, colonel or general can't remember, questioned him, only to be told that he was a submariner. His reply was, so thats what they look like, We all had a good laugh.

I can answer most of these....

- The MARLANT team has been going up every year since the late 80's with the exception of '03 which was the first year that CFSAC was canceled. We have a strong support from MARLANT that permits us to compete at the National level on a regular basis. Back in '06, BASE OPS in MARPAC was invited to the NSCC and subsequently he attempted to start a team, but nothing ever came of it.
- The BART team did show up.
- The teams slept in the old ATCO trailers that have been re-fitted to be accommodations, and new a accommodations building is soon to be started if it hasn't started already
- No more wearing of Ball Caps with Army Combats, not cause of the advantage, but because it is not authorized by the Army and they are the ones who own the combats and control what is worn with them.
