One piece cleaning rod

Any idea for a good quality 1-piece 12 gauge cleaning rod? I have a new Mossberg 590A1.

Dewey. Personally, I use a 2 piece coated rod from Dewey that is much sturdier.

Dunno what the heck I fought with multi-piece rods for, for so long!

One piece rods are cooler than electric start automobiles!

For 12 gauge. I find fibreglas ski poles timmed and fitted with hardware from old,
wobbly 3 piece wooden rods seem to last forever. I 've also used 1/2" dowel fitted up the same way.

can some of you explain the logic behind using carbon fiber and fiberglass rods?
do you realise that both of these materials are far more abrasive than steel? you can etch glass with carbon fiber FFS.

nothing wrong with nylon coated, aluminum or brass - although brass is annoying as hell with copper cleaning solvents.

Its a shotgun, with a smooth bore. A glorified piece of pipe if you will. Special rods are a waste of money. The wooden dowel mentioned above is cheap and very effective...If you're actually concerned about cleaning your shotgun barrel.

for shotguns i usually use an oak dowel, and just use paper towels which i wad up into a plug-like thing, coat with cleaning solution and push through with the dowel. sometimes if ive only fired a handful of shots i dont even use cleaning solution just a lightly oiled paper towel.

sounds like i am being a cheap@ss but i actually have proper rods and more expensive commercial cleaning solutions - they sit on the shelf gathering dust because i found that they are overkill for shotguns. i used to spend more time cleaning my cleaning equipment than i did cleaning the actual shotgun. paper towels are ideal since you just chuck them.

Does that work for 34" barrels. I use an old fiberglass fly rod. Or when i'm lazy the bore snake.

I doub't you have ever shot any of the Shotgun Sports. But long barrel guns 30-34" offer a longer sighting plane and smoother swing.

The one piece rods mentioned are excellent for rifles but i prefer the bore snake for my shotguns. After 100 rounds of shooting clays, one or two pulls through the barrel make mine shine.
