Anyone else feel like they're perpetually one rifle away from contentment? Is this just the nature of firearm ownership?

Years ago I thought I was "done." I had my .22 plinkers, my 223 black rifles, 9mm carbines, 45-70 lever guns, hunting rifles in .308, 30-06 etc.

I was done, until I wasn't.

I had to add more black rifles, more lever guns, milsurp Mausers in 6.5x55, thumpers in 338 WinMag, 375HH, 416 Rigby, 458 WinMag and many more.

I always have my eyes set on that next rifle around the corner.

Anyone else suffer from this same ailment?

I figure I'll never be done. There will always be something I want that I don't yet have, especially if you include stuff I'll likely never get like a bespoke double rifle from Holland&Holland.

I'm pretty much done with a fair variety of calibers and actions with allegiance to Ruger, Winchester & Browning.
There are a couple more I'd like if the right ones come along with preferred F to F, namely; an unmolested Marlin waffle top in 30-30 & a Rem 7600 carbine preferably in .308 (I keep watching)

I see many guns I would like to have but when I think about it I know I probably will shoot them a bit then put them down. But there are some I see and just know I need to have them- even though I have plenty of firearms.

I wouldn't have to work very hard to come up with a list of guns I'd like to have.

I often look at what I do have and say to myself I should trim things down because I don't use most of them.

I have a dozen or two pistols I would put up for sale tomorrow if we still could, and quite a few rifles that just never get taken out. I bought them because I thought I needed to have them. Turns out I really don't, I only have a handful that get regular use.

My 1911s are a perfect example: I only ever really use one of them, the rest just sit in the safe. I have a couple I've never even fired.

But I do need two firearms I've never owned: a Springfield 87M, and a Caesar Guerini Ellipse Curve.

I have t bought a rifle in years , money problems
But when ever I buy a rifle I have bought all the reloading equipment for them
I have a number of 1886 rifles , that if have original reloading equipment and bullet molds for
Winchester bullet molds and reloading equipment

What??? Nobody slagging those of us who buy guns and don't shoot them?? I haven't thought of any good reason that I shouldn't buy guns, lots of guns, and don't get around to shooting all of them. I have been considering a CZ457 Canadian .22lr. I only have four 457's - so far. I added a 457 Premium .17 HMR to the pile this summer. I was in the gun shop at Bashaw in the summer of 2022 snooping, and a young fellow had just bought a 457 premium in .22. When he saw me looking longingly at it, I'm sure he tightened his grip on that rifle. This past summer, I stopped in again at the Bashaw shop, and there it was a .17 Premium. :d

Have been through the thinning phase, only to buy the same again in a different cartridge. Not really needing more, but there is always that one itch that needs scratched.
Recently its been for a hex barrel levergun that could be blk pwder, 38-55, 44-40, with tang sight or a good ladder sight.
also something with a classic deluxe safari piece of wood, cartridge not important

It s like that old James Bond movie “Never say never again”There is always a gun that you have to have no matter how many times you have told yourself you are done buying. There is a big difference between want and need as well,I always fall in the want category lol

I'm definately beyond the need category, buying things now just because they scratch an itch.

In the coming years I'd like to add:
A double rifle in 470 NE
A falling block in 450/400 or 7x57
A case hardened Winchester lever rifle
A lightweight backcountry rifle in 7mmPRC or 280AI
An O/U or drilling rifle
A muzzleloader
Amoung others

I'm pretty much done, i have a high powered pellet gun for silent squirrel dispatch, a 22 lever that is great for plinking and larger pests. I have an 870 shot gun that i use for clay and bird hunting, a scoped 308 x bolt that is my primary hunting rifle, and finally my beloved marlin 1895, which is a good all around rifle, it was a present from my wife, mostly i suspect i have it for fun, but of course it would always be good for.... BEAR DEFENSE!!!:p

So i'm pretty much done.

However, two things that i would like, are on my wish list.

I would like them to allow hand guns again, and then i'd get a nice heavy calibre revolver. A classic stainless steel one.

And, because i'm a boring history buff, i'd like to one day get a beautiful lee Enfield. Right now i don't know a lot about the lee enfields, i've only been reading about them off and on for the last year. I think i mostly love the idea of them. I'm still sorting out all the different models and versions, all the different features to look for. I only just recently learned what monstrous reality was being communicated by describing a lee enfield as "sporterized" ! I mean, good grief, the jerks cut half the wood off, it's like they circumcised the poor thing!!!

Some day though i'd love to really know everything i need to know about them, then i'd be able to find a good specimen and really enjoy it. I would probably display that one on the wall when i wasn't shooting it.
