Hypothetical question.
If you had to take one long shot for everything you owned, or everything or everyone you cared about, or to change the course of history which one of the rifles that you already have would you choose for the most important shot of your life? Maybe you’re the guy who finally gets the tarp off the time-machine and has a clear shot at Hitler but any other imaginary scenario will do as long as this single long shot is the most important one you’ll ever take. It’s life and death and you will never get a do over.

I was thinking about this the other day (because I have that kind of time ;) ) and out of all the rifles I own it would be my Defensive Edge Canyon Rifle in 338 Edge. This one is built on a BAT action, 30” fluted Hart barrel, HS Precision stock, Jewel trigger and weighs about 16 pounds with the Nightforce.

Whats you pick, from what you have?

.223 krieger barrelled FTR rifle. I’ve shot 15x with it at 500m and I’m comfortable landing hits at 1200 so it would have to get the nod.

I thought about my FTR guns too; just couldn’t get past other ones in the stable with half the wind drift and have more or less the same energy at a thousand as my
308s have at the muzzle.Shot 223 in F class for a bit, got my first Governors medal with one. Thought about my 28 Nosler build that lobs 195 EOLs in a wind friendly fashion that slightly edges out my 300 grain SMKs; but I guess I just can’t get past the familiarity of my old Edge.

Of course the thread isn’t about me; its about the balloon going up and its time to gicher gun and what you’d grab. Your choice and reasons are just as valid as mine.

Hmmm; politicians. That would make it a non human target at least ;)
I can envision where that could be the most important shot of someone’s life; can’t imagine wanting a borrowed rifle for it though. :)
