Sorry for the late set up guys! Just getting back from a shooting match and getting back "in the swing of things".

Here is where you can enter your scores from the various matches (for rules on these matches go to the top of the rimfire page to the thread titled "Rules for Matches".).

And just for a bit of "background info": Unlike other postal matches where you have to mail the target to get it scored this is simpily based on the honour system and the shooter scores it. After this you simply post your results in this thread.

To enter this month's scores you need to shoot the target(s) in the month of March

Just a couple of "guidelines" to follow and you should be fine.

Please state the:

Which match you shot
Your score
Your screen name (i.e. cz452shooter)
Gun used
Scope used (or if it was open sights just state open sights)
Ammunition used

Here would be an example:

Jordan; Wait till I get the mount for the 52C!! I believe it may be even better. Definitely has a better stock for bench work, plus it has the speedlock system, which my 52A does not have. My 20 yard prone target should have been better, but I totally screwed up on a couple of shots! Regards, Dave.

i tried some 20 yard prone and offhand. offhand i won't even bother trying again until i get my skill up, but prone was pretty fun but tiring. can someone score this for me? i barely got any 10s but i'll enter it anyways.
i totally forgot to shoot at 2 different targets so i dont know if this is even scorable

171 0X - Onagoth
Savage Mk II FV - heavy barrel
Federal 38g HP
Tasco 6-24 @ 14x
3C, almost no wind

So, I have a lot of learning to do, but its fun to start competing. Hopefully, groupings will shrink when I get some Lapua ammo later this month.

If anyone has any shooting tips, I would appreciate any advice.

Cheers

can someone score this for me?

I'd say it is 88

8x4=32
9x4=36
10x2=20
----------
total=88

sorry fellas I've been off for almost a year now - real matches are getting in the way (we had them like weekly) and pistol and ceterfire rifles - all leaves almost no time. Great shooting Jack-M1A

SSJChar - you forgot to mention rifle and ammo. Looking at your target I would suggest you to borrow descent rifle with heavy barrel, that tends to dampen a lot of things. And too bad you didn't shoot standing - its so much fun. Practice standing ahead of everything else.

thanks for tallying it up. i wasn't too sure where the holes actually were. i'm shooting a marlin 981T and i was using lapua super club with a bushnell sportsman 3x-9x 32mm at 9x. i just read the link on how to actually do prone shooting(i skimmed it probably 4 months ago but didn't pay attention) and i'm shooting so wrong. that and my scope was dialed in for federal 510. i'll shoot again tomorrow, but this time i'll remember the techniques and see if i can pull off something better.

Thats good shooting SSJChar :).

Looks like either 88 or 89. A good way to score targets with a lot of holes in them is to print off another blank target and put it behind the shot target - lining up the bulls. It makes it a bit easier to see which ring it touches.

Onagoth: Nice shooting as well for 50 yard unlimited. That is a really hard target to shoot. Some tips would be watch the wind closely. For starters try not holding off to compensate for wind conditions but instead watch the wind and wait for consisten conditions (i.e only shoot when it is blowing 5-10kmh but consistently 9:00). A few windflags can really help, even if you just hang up some serveyors ribbon. One other tip would be too watch cant (how much you are tilting the gun). A level would really help but at the very least use your crosshairs and make sure they are exactly strait up and down for each shot. Canting the gun a full 90 degrees can change POI up to about 9" I believe at 50 yards so by tilting it just a couple of degrees can change POI quite a bit. Experiment with holding the gun too (i.e does a light hold work or is it better to hold it firmly).

50 yard unlimited

Thanks for the tips CZ452, I will definately start employing some different windage flags. Also, I am fairly particular about cant, just because I can't stand looking at crosshairs that are anything but straight up and down, so I try to make that perfect before each shot.

I also played around with different grips like tight vs soft grips. I wasn't sure if the bullet flight would be affected by a greater recoil with a soft grip (whereas my hands and body can dampen some recoil with a tighter grip) so I have been kinda using both with varying results.

I also really work on my trigger pull, right now it is at 2 lbs with very little creep but apparently the accutrigger on a .22 can go down to 1.5lbs (maybe even more but I don't really want to shave the spring) So I will likely try that.

I am also going to acquire some match ammo to see if that helps the scores, I may submit another one next sunday and hopefully there will be some improvement.

Thanks again for the tips.

Happy Shooting
